THE STORY OF THE FMR

The FMR was designed for hard working gamekeepers and farmers

Having grown up spending a lot of time in the British countryside I began to see just how valuable having a small pocket knife could be for all sorts of different tasks.

 

The idea of the FMR was formed when out for dinner one evening. I was playing around with the idea of making a small batch of quality folding knives as ‘thank you’ for several friends who are gamekeepers. The knives would have to be able to withstand the riggers of being used everyday by my gamekeeper friends (a couple of whom are VERY heavy handed!) for tough tasks, whilst still being able to hold an edge that is sharp enough for delicate tasks.

 

A real emphasis has been placed on the materials used in the FMR; for example the blade steel is N690 which is made by the Austrian company Böhler. One of Thornmore’s first customers (who is responsible for managing a very large herd of red deer) has used his FMR to gralloch 20 red deer without sharpening and still raves about how keen the edge is!

THE KNIFE

Manufactured from high quality materials the FMR is ready to tackle anything you throw at it.

N690 Blade The 2.76 inch (70mm) long blade is manufactured from N690 stainless steel. This steel has a high corrosion resistance which will allow you to tackle any cutting task without worrying about the blade tarnishing. The blade has a full flat grind which helps to reduce drag when cutting.
The Handle The FMR comes with either a black G10, orange G10 or a burgundy Micarta handle. G10 and Micarta are made from composite materials and are known for their tough properties.
The Liners Both liners are 1.2mm thick stainless steel. Stainless steel has been specified in order to ensure that they do not tarnish over time.
The Pocket Clip A removable stainless steel pocket clip, and a lanyard hole have been added to give you a number of different carry options.
The Washers Phosphor bronze washers have been used in the construction of this knife to ensure that the action is still smooth after being used in tough conditions.
The Quality The FMR has been designed in Britain for professionals who demand a hard working knife that won't let them down. It will be manufactured by our partners in the Maniago region of Italy, a region that is historically famed for producing high quality cutlery and shears.

What warranty does the FMR come with? The quality of the FMR is something to be relied on. The FMR comes with a lifetime warranty; Thornmore will exchange or repair any product that is found to have defects in the manufacturing, materials or workmanship. The FMR has been designed and manufactured for use as a cutting tool and using it for any other purpose than this will void the warranty.

Thornmore is based in Britain, but in order to produce a knife of the highest quality we have partnered with a manufacturer in Italy who has an exceptional reputation in this regard.
